Film Production Training

Preproduction –Production – Post production

Interested in what it takes to create professional videos and films? Would you like to know what all those buttons mean on your camera and what they are used for? Do you understand lighting and the different colors there are of light? Did you know there are different colors of light? Do you know how to write a script? Do you always need a script? What about recording sound professionally? And then there’s editing.

Basic Film Production 101 – Our 3 week Basic Film Production course will teach you all the nuts and bolts of video production from script writing and storyboarding to camera controls, lighting and audio to chroma-keying/compositing using a green screen to editing and DVD authoring.

This is a fast paced course and we throw a lot of information and hands on training at you 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 3 weeks. This is a very intensive course.

Our current instructor owns his own business in the media arts business and has created various local broadcast commercials for several businesses located nationally in addition to several product videos and numerous web videos.  His methods of instruction are to train students not to learn how to work on the set of someone else’s film or to even work for someone else. Our Film Production Program is looking for entrepreneurial individuals who want to work for themselves. We teach the theoretical aspect of video production and then reinforce this knowledge with hands on training.

Throughout the classes there are various projects, which students participate and create their own videos. Some examples are a stop animation video, photo montage video, historical documentary, a music video, a 30 second broadcast commercial, training video and a video resume.

Advanced Film Production 201– this class builds on the training from the Basic Video Production class by spending a considerable amount of time learning script writing and advanced editing. Students will select a project (as mentioned above) write a script for the project and then storyboard the script (pre-production). Next students will set up every facet required to shoot the script (production). Finally, students will edit the production footage to the script and storyboard and author their own DVD with menus of the project.

Comprehensive Film Production – this class is a combination of both the basic Film production 101 class and the Advanced Film production 201 class.
